Cleaning & Sterilizing Your Cooler: Hot’n Cold Models

 

Your cooler’s reservoir should be flushed, cleaned and sanitized every 6 to 12 months depending on the amount of water used and the sanitary conditions of the cooler location. The best time to do this is when the bottle is empty.

  1. Unplug cooler..
  2. Draw water from hot faucet until water is cool.
  3. Remove water bottle.
  4. Empty cooler reservoir by draining all faucets.
  5. Remove the No Spill Lid if applicable.
  6. Remove baffle and wipe inside reservoir and both sides of baffle with clean cloth or paper towel.
  7. Place baffle back in reservoir.
  8. Drain water from hot tank through drain plug (found at back of cooler) into a container. Caution: Hot water can scald hands.
  9. Add one teaspoon of bleach to 4 litres of clean water and pour into reservoir. Caution: Bleach solution can stain clothing!
 
  1. Open hot faucet until water comes out. Doing this will fill the hot tank with sterilizing solution.
  2. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Empty cooler reservoir by draining all faucets.
  4. Drain sterilizing solution through hot tank drain into a container. Place drain plug back in.
  5. Pour clean water into reservoir and rinse hot tank several times, draining through the hot water drain. Continue rinsing until no bleach odour remains.
  6. Rinse reservoir with clean water several times by draining through cold faucet. Contine rinsing until no bleach odour remains.
  7. Wipe No Spill Lid with cloth or paper towel and place back on cooler.
  8. Place new bottle of Crystal water on cooler.
  9. Open hot faucet until water comes out. This will bleed the air from the system.
  10. Plug cooler in.
